Hocus Pocus was created for the GBJAM14, for which we had to make our game in 10 days with two prerequisites:

1.  Inspired by the original GameBoy limits, with a 4 color palette limit per screen being the most notorious.
2. Match the theme "OLD GOLD" as we best consider.

For the first one, we decided to limit ourselves by using GBStudio, so we have the exact limits of the original GameBoy.

As for the second, we bet everything on how similar the two words are, making a game in the Wario Ware style where you play some classic ("old gold") minigames to convert one word into another with just one letter change.

It was also imperative that every asset should be ours (minus the font).

Some notes from me (Shutwig): 

I took this Jam as an opportunity to test my programming skills, as I'm usually the artist on projects but have been learning other game developing skills for some years on the side. 
I found the limitations of the jam great to work around so I didn't struggle too much deciding between endless possibilities.

Some notes from the other me (Dorudoru):

My first jam! I’ve been wanting to give this a try for a while, and what better way than with a friend at a “retro” jam?
I took the opportunity to get back into pixel art, which was something I’d been meaning to do.
As for the music… please don’t call me out, hahaha. It’s my first time composing—sorry!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the game :)
